Judge denies Meek Mill bail again following appeal
 Add to favorites

Meek Mill has been denied bail again following an appeal to be released.

The rapper is currently in prison for violating his probation. He was arrested for his involvement in a fight at St. Louis airport (the charges were later dropped), and for reckless driving in New York.

Despite both the Philadelphia District Attorney and Governor Tom Wolf publicly supporting his release, Judge Genece Brinkley has decided Mill will remain behind bars. In documents obtained by the New York Daily News, she wrote: “Defendant received proper notice of all alleged probation violations in advance of his hearing. The sentence imposed was not manifestly excessive and this Court stated sufficient reasons on the record to support a state sentence of two to four years.”

Brinkley has been accused of improper bias in the case, including an allegation that she requested Mill cover a Boyz II Men song. “This bald allegation has no basis in reality,” she responded. “There is zero evidence to support this claim. The court has repeatedly told Defendant that he cannot demand special treatment just because he has chosen to be an entertainer.”

Speaking to TMZ, Mill’s attorney Joe Tacopina said: “This ruling from Judge Genece Brinkley simply reaffirms the fact she has turned Meek Mill’s case into a personal vendetta… In spite of the recommendations from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, which was supported by Governor Tom Wolf, the judge continues to stand alone in supporting Officer Reginald Graham’s perjured testimony as well as his criminal behaviour that has been documented.”

Tacopina added that he will be appealing Brinkley’s ruling to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, as previously reported.
