Billy Corgan says “truth will win out” over “misrepresentation” of Smashing Pumpkins reunion
 Add to favorites

Billy Corgan has hit back at the “misrepresentation” of the Smashing Pumpkins reunion in an Instagram post, promising that “the truth will win out in the end”.

The frontman made headlines recently with his alleged interactions with ex-bandmate D’Arcy Wretzky. The former Pumpkins bassist shared screengrabs of an apparent conversation with Corgan in which they discussed possibility of her rejoining the band. The conversation appeared to contradict Corgan’s version of events.

Despite saying that he feels “attacked by the mob”, Corgan has said that it is “the happiest time” that the Smashing Pumpkins have ever experienced as a band, whilst also admitting that bridges with Wretzky have been burned “forever” following their public feud.

It had also been reported that the Smashing Pumpkins reunion tour hadn’t been selling very well.

Now, Corgan has taken to Instagram to thank fans for the “positive feedback”, saying that their “fidelity is valued and appreciated”. He also affirmed that “the truth will win out in the end and is best represented by proof that can be seen and felt”.

“I hope everyone is well, and appreciate all the positive feedback and photos I receive here,” Corgan writes in an Instagram caption. “Your fidelity is valued and appreciated, and we are certainly lucky as musicians to have such support. I could go on about what’s false or misrepresented, but time says the truth will win out in the end and is best represented by proof that can be seen and felt (like new music, videos, action, and of course shows).”

Corgan has also revealed that he is working on the lyrics for a new song tentatively called ‘The Goodship Disaster’ and that the band are currently in the process of booking shows overseas.

Corgan recently responded to questions surrounding his political views after past controversial comments made about President Trump.

Speaking to the New York Times, Corgan revealed that he has not voted since 1992 when he opted for Bill Clinton, as he grew ever more alienated from the “establishment”.

“I’m a free-market libertarian capitalist,” said Corgan. “I’m not anti-anything except establishment. I find institutions and systems suspicious.”

“I’m not going to be defined by other people’s version of the shadow world,” Corgan added. “I’m not going to sit here and hold myself up as Mr. Pure, nor have I ever. I’m not a virtue-signaler. I have no agenda. I’m not a politician.”
