Sinead O’ Connor is set to return to the stage following recent struggles with her mental health.

Last year, the Irish singer opened up about her mental health problems on the Dr Phil show. She had previously discussed experiencing suicidal thoughts in a video posted to Facebook.

Now, it appears that O’ Connor is ready to perform live again. It’s been reported that she will play two US dates, which will be followed by a more extensive tour this summer. The gigs will be the singer’s first in the US for four years.

According to Brooklyn Vegan, performances will take place next month at the Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and the Academy of Music in Northampton, Massachusetts.

The dates are being billed as ‘Sinead O’ Connor aka Magda Davitt’ – the name she announced she would adopt last year to be “free of parental curses”. Shows take place April 24/25.

O’Connor’s last studio album came in the form of ‘I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss’ in 2014.

During the discussion with Dr Phil in September, the singer said she “felt like an imposter” at the height of her fame and didn’t understand why people loved her music.

Fans had previously voiced their support after O’ Connor posted an emotional video online. She said that she had been suffering from suicidal thoughts for the past two years but was determined on “staying alive”, adding: “I am only one of millions and millions and millions of people who are just like me”.

Back in 2015, the singer said she will no longer perform her most famous hit ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’.
