Swim Deep tease return with ‘bigger plans’ than ever
 Add to favorites

Swim Deep have teased their return, saying they have “bigger plans” than ever.

The Birmingham band formed in 2011, and released their debut album ‘Where The Heaven Are We‘ in 2013. Their second album, ‘Mothers‘, followed in 2015, and in a four-star review, NME described it as “easily the best, most mind-bogglingly weird thing they’ve done”.

After resurfacing on Twitter to encourage followers to pick up The Magic Gang‘s debut album, the band continued to update fans on what was happening with their own group. “We’ve been turned upside down and twisted around, but now we’re better than ever and makin bigger plans than eva,” they wrote.

They hinted that a summer return was on the cards, writing “Talk in June”. In a later tweet, they said: “We’ve had nothing but you guys and the stars above you in our minds whilst makin this new music”.

Former Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron revealed he was a fan of Swim Deep ahead of the release of ‘Mothers’. Speaking to The Big Issue North, he spoke about his own time in a band in his youth, and discussed current bands he was into.

“When you get to my age, I’m sure I’m paddling in a shallower pool when it comes to listening to new things, but I’m particularly enjoying Everything Everything at the moment,” he said. “I love Wild Beasts – not just because they’re from Kendal. And I’m eagerly awaiting the new Swim Deep album. I think they’re great.”

Last year, Swim Deep frontman Austin Williams performed with Bands4Refugees at the VO5 NME Awards 2017. He was also a part of the original fundraising shows in 2016, which raised money and awareness for the charity Help Refugees.
