Tom Petty keyboardist says his upcoming show is “absolutely not” at Heartbreakers reunion
 Add to favorites

Benmont Tench, the former keyboardist of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, has said that there won’t be a band reunion at his upcoming show.

Petty sadly passed away in October 2017 at the age of 66. It was confirmed earlier this year that the rock legend died from an accidental drug overdose.

Just one week before his death, Petty played his last ever gig with the Heartbreakers at the legendary Hollywood Bowl. Last year, the band headlined British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park.

Now, a Benmont Tench solo show has been announced, set to take place in LA. The show is billed as “Benmont Tench and (hopefully!) Friends” – leading fans to question whether that will include members of the Heartbreakers.

When asked on Twitter about the possibility of a reunion, Tench quickly shut down the rumours.

“Absolutely not,” he said. “It means I hope some of my friends show up to play along, but who knows? It definitely does not mean any Heartbreakers.”

I would frankly be pretty surprised though

Tench’s sold-out show takes place at Largo at the Coronet in LA on April 28.
