Vanessa Carlton slams Chris Brown for sharing her song on International Women’s Day

‘One Thousand Miles’ singer Vanessa Carlton has responded after Chris Brown shared a clip of the seminal song on his Instagram page.

The song, which was popularised in films including White Chicks, was shared on Brown’s Instagram page yesterday morning.

But Brown’s appreciation of the track on International Women’s Day didn’t sit well with Carlton, who pointed out his previous conviction for attacking Rihanna in 2009.

“Today Chris Brown posted my video. I am now being repeatedly tagged to his account. Being that today is International Women’s Day I feel compelled to draw a line”, she wrote on Instagram.

“I support survivors not perpetrators of domestic violence. I do not want to be associated with an artist that has assaulted women on a day like today. Thank you #internationalwomensday.”

Brown has since responded, affirming his continued support for the track.

“”I posted a song that was and still is a great song and the artist felt she was doing her duty as a WOMAN to continue to spread this kind of hatred today. I won’t keep it up long. I just hope she knows she is loved and her song is great”, he wrote.

He then posted the song once more, featuring a clip from White Chicks.

Earlier this year, it was also claimed that Brown could face jail time after buying his daughter a pet monkey, because he didn’t have a permit to keep the animal.
