Rapper Lil Xan has come under fire for calling Tupac “boring”.

During an interview with Revolt TV, the rapper was asked for his opinion on the late hip-hop icon, when he dismissively shrugged and said he made “boring music”.

Lil Xan gives 2pac a rating of 2 for "boring music." RT if you have… questions.

Xan soon started trending, when the likes of Waka Flocka Flame led a charge of criticism against his comment – calling on him to be “banned from hip hop”.

Pac help me get thru childhood!!! Shit hurt to see the youth disrespect man that paved the way for all of us literally… I hope nobody overlook me accomplishments when I leave ????

2pacs music helped me when I wanted to give up, being a kid hearing "Dear Mama" knowing my mother was going thru some of the same things, it helped us push through… hearing @lilxanfuhyobih makes me want to kill myself

He wants to be in hip hop. The culture of hip hop lives or dies bases on respect to the art of it. Him publicly saying 2pac is boring is a slap in the face to hip hop & those who Pac inspired. Its something media training & artist development is for. He is grown. Accountability

I’m not saying that he has to love him. It’s the fact he said it’s boring instead of saying he doesn’t like I️t. Tupac talked about the struggle black people went through. Is that supposed to be boring?

Honestly bro, I could care less if a white kid named “lil xan” with zzz’s tattooed under his eyes thinks Tupac Amaru Shaku is “boring”. He obviously doesn’t come from where we come from. He’ll never understand what Pac’s legacy means to us.

Xan then responded to the backlash, saying that he”wasn’t going anywhere”, but was going to stop speaking to the press.

“No more interviews,” he wrote. “I love my fans to death but I can’t let these companies keep taking advantage of me and using me to further there shit, it’s fucked.”

After seeing our #OnClout9 interview with Lil Xan – where he rated Tupac a "2" in clout because "he got boring music," Waka Flocka said Xan is "banned from hip-hop." This is Xan's response. [Peep his original #OnClout9 episode here: https://t.co/HKOEBtxV9c] pic.twitter.com/hbWLeosWiT

Others however, jumped to Xan’s defence – arguing that he was perfectly entitled to his opinion.

No pass needed. He can like what he likes just like anyone can. This “requirement” that young artists bow down to their forbears only exists in hip hop. I guarantee you if a young rock band said they found Nirvana boring they would not be crucified for it. Nonsense.

you just gotta make sure who you do interviews with. just keep in mind that ur fans love and adore you, but those little interviews you do makes us feel like we know you more and it makes us happy

Are people really mad at Lil Xan for sharing his opinion?? What are you? Five years old? It’s 2018, people all know by now that everyone has opinions and they don’t always correlate. He wasn’t racist, sexist or downgrading anyone. He only called someone boring. Get over it. pic.twitter.com/DMR7pStDHG

Ain’t nobody forcing Lil Xan to like Tupac. Everyone is open to their own opinion. It's about the respect. Can't call someone that took Hip-Hop to another level "boring" or "wack". You aint gotta like them, but you gotta respect what they did for Hip-Hop.

Last year saw Tupac inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, where Snoop Dogg hailed him as “the greatest rapper of all time“.

Describing the ‘human’ qualities of Shakur, Snoop spoke of 2Pac as “many different things at once. Hardheaded and intellectual, courageous and afraid, revolutionary and….oh yeah, don’t get it fucked up, gangsta.”

Other rappers to make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame include the Beastie Boys, Run-D.M.C., Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and N.W.A.
