‘School of Rock’ actor Tony Cavalero has been cast as Ozzy Osbourne in Netflix‘s upcoming Motley Crue biopic, ‘The Dirt’.

A huge part of the band’s career was opening for Ozzy in 1984, hence his part in the film, with Cavalero looking strikingly similar to Ozzy from that era.

Back in March 2017, it was reported that Netflix were in talks to turn Motley Crue’s 2001 biography, ‘The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band’ into a feature-length film.

This was then confirmed, with the first cast members revealed late last year, with Douglas Booth playing Nikki Sixx, and Machine Gun Kelly taking the role of Tommy Lee.

Back in January it was announced that ‘Game Of Thrones‘ star Iwan Rheon – who played Ramsay Bolton in the show – had been cast as guitarist, Mick Mars.

‘The Punisher‘ actor Daniel Webber has been given the role of frontman, Vince Neil.

‘The Dirt’ book details the full spectrum of Motley Crue’s excess with drugs, alcohol and celebrity love affairs. The band formed in Los Angeles in January 1981 and went to sell more than 100 million records worldwide, with a quarter of that coming from the U.S.

There have been talks of a film adaptation since 2003. Production on Netflix’s version is expected to start imminently.

Meanwhile, in 2016, Nikki Sixx said there was no chance of another Motley Crue album, stating that creatively the band “came to a crawl”.
