The Flaming Lips and Mystery Jets announced for new London festival

The Flaming Lips and Mystery Jets are among the first names to be announced for a new London festival that offers a unique combination of music, theatre and comedy.

Kaleidoscope Festival will take place at London’s Alexandra Palace on July 21 and will also feature comedy sets from the likes of Mark Watson and former NME columnist Katherine Ryan.

Other notable highlights include a set from Ghostpoet and poetry icon John Cooper Clarke.

It’s expected that sets from The Flaming Lips and Mystery Jets will take place on an outdoor stage surrounding Alexandra Palace, while a series of special performances will take place in the basement rooms of the venue.

“We’re delighted to bring a wealth of talent from across the creative sphere to Alexandra Park and Palace”, organiser Simon Fell said of the shows.

Last year, Mystery Jets brought the curtain down on the first ten years of their career with a five night residency at The Garage.

Speaking to NME, singerBlaine Harrison also confirmed that a new record is in the offing.

“We’re in the middle of making a new record at the moment, so we’re always making music and doing things – we’ve never stopped”, he told NME backstage.
