According to one of the numerous versions, the name of the genre comes from the phrase "Esto es una gran salsa!", Which translates as "Magnificent saus!". She was played by musician Tito Puente in the late 60's, when the Latin American performers presented a new dance rhythm: a hybrid of Bossanova, Cuban son, cha-cha-cha, mambo and boogie-woogie. Later salsa absorbed elements of pop, jazz and R & B and became one of the most popular among Latin American dances. In addition to Tito Puente, the development of the genre was influenced by Celia Cruz, Ray Barretto, Ruben Blades and Willie Colon. Every weekday is a new playlist in the "Genre of the Day" rubric.
