Skiffle originated in America at the beginning of the 20th century and meant music that combines elements of jazz, blues and American folk motifs. Performers Skiffla, as a rule, used self-made tools, very often a washing board. In the fifties, the genre became popular in the UK - thanks to Lonnie Doneganu, who is called the "Skiffle King". Other notable representatives include The Quarrymen, which included John Lennon, The Vipers Skiffle Group, The Gutter Brothers and Johnny Duncan.
